Yamaha/Corbin Solo Seat

WHY? No practical reason--I just like the "retro" look of these items on the V Star Classic. The Yamaha Solo Seat is manufactured by Corbin, and I've had excellent experience with their products in the past. Many vendors sell these items, so I simply did a search to see who had the best deal. I found them both for great prices online at Yamaha City in Philadelphia. Their site was fairly easy to navigate, and secure ordering online was a simple process.

SERVICE. No better than average. I received a confirmation e-mail from them, but the next day I received an email saying that both items were out of stock. It took me about two weeks from date of order to receive them. Packaging was in the original Yamaha boxes and all parts were included. Both products looked to be excellent quality, with good chrome and and no scratches or blemishes.

INSTALLATION. Instructions were clear and complete. The job was pretty simple and could be accomplished by anyone with moderate skills and tools. The seat was changed in a couple of minutes with the removal of only one bolt. The rail required a bit of trimming of some plastic trim and careful alignment with the new seat. It took very little time to install both items--less than 30 minutes--and all parts were supplied and everything fit well.

RESULTS. Good. The Yamaha/Corbin seat takes some getting used to and puts the rider in a different position than does the stock unit. It suits me well, though, and is more comfortable on longer rides. Both items look good on the bike, too...

Worth the money? Yes. I like the new look.
