Yamaha
Passing Lamps

WHY? A couple of
reasons. First, I like all the light I can get--helps the sled
drivers see you better. Second, I just like the "retro"
look of these items on the V Star Classic. The stock front turn
signals look pretty wimpy, and the passing lamps really fit the
styling of the Classic. I like the looks of the Yamaha products, and
they are about the same price as the aftermarket units. Many vendors
sell the lamps and mounting kit, so I simply did a search to see who
had the best deal. I found them both for great prices online at
Yamaha City in Philadelphia. Their site was fairly easy to navigate,
and secure ordering online was a simple process.
SERVICE. Not so great.
I've ordered three times from them, and in every case I received an
email saying that the items I ordered were out of stock. It took more
than two weeks from date of order to receive them. Their prices are
great, but I don't order from them if I am in a rush. Packaging was
in the original Yamaha boxes and all parts were included. Both
products looked to be excellent quality, with good chrome and and no
scratches or blemishes.
INSTALLATION.
Instructions for installation of the hardware were clear and
complete, but they were very unclear as to how to tap into the
existing wiring. The job was of medium difficulty and could be
accomplished by anyone with moderate skills and tools. I wired the
lamps so that they are on in conjunction with the low-beams. I could
have used trial-and-error to determine the proper wire to tap, but I
was fortunate to find my answer on the ISRA forum. Thanks, guys! The
complete job took me about two hours. All parts were supplied and
everything fit well.
RESULTS. Good. I
really like the looks of the front end now, and the passing lamps
throw out quite a bit more light.
Worth the money? Yes.
I like the new look. |
