Helmet Lock Relocation to Sissy Bar by Ron Lokey
Below is a photo of where
I relocated the helmet lock on my V-Star 1100. Cost nothing and takes very
little work.
1. Remove Sissy Bar and file notch in extreme end to accommodate locating pin in
helmet lock assembly. (One might even consider just grinding off the pin). This
allows the lock assembly to set flush on the sissy bar surface.
2. Grind off end of TOP BOLT holding sissy bar on such that it only protrudes
half way into sissy bar. (this allows room for helmet lock bolt to come from
other side)
3. Grind off end of HELMET LOCK BOLT to proper length so that it holds helmet
lock assy secure without bottoming out on other bolt. (might even use a drop of
locktite).
4. Both bolts still have at least 1 bolt diameter of thread engagement. Not
ideal, but more than satisfactory.
Enjoy,
